Reading & Language Arts

Picture
Text is everywhere. It's on street signs, newspapers, the back of a medicine bottle, and inside books. Being successful in society means you need to be able to read, write and understand text. This year we will be learning valuable reading, writing, grammar and language skills, and hopefully a love for reading that students will carry with them always.

Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
Bellevue School follows the CCSS. According to www.corestandards.org,:

The Common Core State Standards are a clear set of shared goals and expectations for the knowledge and skills students need in English language arts and mathematics at each grade level so they can be prepared to succeed in college, career, and life.

If you would like to know more, you can find a link to the CCSS website's Frequently Asked Questions page here.
