It's official! School has started again! Here at Bellevue School we have been experiencing many new wonderful and challenging changes. One such change is the beginning of this blog, a sign of how technology is an integral part of education.
The purpose of this blog is not just to keep us all up to date about the happenings in room A1, but also as a way for students to learn and practice technology skills that will be required of them one day as they enter the work force. I am excited by this shift in education.
Enough of the long-winded rambling! Onto some of the projects we have been working on these first few weeks of school!

Ever wondered how many sides there ere are in a Rubik's Cube? Ask a student in room A1 and they will be able to tell you! How, you may ask? We have been talking about solid shapes!
To showcase what we learned, we made a solid shapes mobile, where we labeled how many sides (the flat parts), edges (the place where two sides meet), and vertices (place where edges meet) each solid shape has. They look great hanging in the classroom!

We have also begun a unit on geography. We learned all the land on Earth is broken up into seven continents. We learned then names and location of these continents as well. Ask a student in A1 what continent we live on, and they will let you know!
We have much more we have been working on, but if you want to see those projects, you will have to come to Back to School Night! Mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 11th! I hope to see you there and tell you all about 5th grade in Room A1.
